Spokane’s quality K-12 schools and world class colleges and universities reflect the regions solid commitment to education. The area is home to the states largest community college district, four public universities, and two renowned private colleges. Spokane has a total of 81 public and 16 private K-12 schools. There are also many technical and professional training institutes like ITT Tech and Apollo college that offer programs designed to meet the needs of today’s employer. The award winning K-12 school system places an emphasis on high technology training and the newest effective teaching techniques. For the second year in a row Lewis and Clark High School was ranked one of the top schools in the United States. A little over 20% of the Spokane population is school aged kids and it shows. Americas promise alliance named Spokane region one of the top 100 communities for young people and Peoples Connection named Spokane the second most “kid friendly” city of all the large cities in the U.S. The opportunities for education in the Spokane area are endless.
